Crypto License Europe GmbH was founded in Düsseldorf in 2019 by a team of financial regulation lawyers specialising in the European FinTech sector. From day one, our focus has been singular: helping crypto-asset businesses navigate European licensing — from early VASP registrations to today's MiCA CASP authorizations across 35+ jurisdictions.
Seven years of European crypto licensing experience — from the first Baltic VASP registrations to full-scale MiCA CASP authorization across the EU.
Crypto License Europe GmbH was established in Düsseldorf by financial regulation lawyers with deep roots in the German and Baltic FinTech sectors. The initial focus was helping German and Scandinavian crypto startups obtain VASP registrations in Estonia and Lithuania — the most accessible EU jurisdictions at the time.
We opened our Vilnius representation to work directly with the FCIS (Financial Crime Investigation Service) in Lithuania. By year-end we had completed 18 successful VASP registrations and extended our client base to the UK and the Netherlands.
After opening our Tallinn office, we became one of the few consultancies continuing to successfully secure Estonian FIU licenses after the country tightened its requirements. Staff grew to 8 specialists; cumulative licenses reached 40+.
With MiCA (Regulation (EU) 2023/1114) in active development, we launched our dedicated MiCA compliance consultancy. Early clients began VASP-to-CASP transformation planning — two years ahead of the regulation's entry into force.
After MiCA was officially adopted in June 2023, demand for our services surged significantly. We expanded coverage to Poland (KNF), Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Malta (MFSA), and Germany (BaFin). The team grew to 12 specialists and total licenses exceeded 85.
December 2024 marked MiCA's full application across all EU crypto-asset companies. We positioned ourselves as a leading CASP authorization consultancy in the region, adding DORA compliance, stablecoin licensing (EMT/ART), and EU passporting services. Cumulative projects surpassed 120.
With EU member states setting VASP→CASP transition deadlines between mid-2025 and July 2026, we handled dozens of transition projects. We also launched our ready-made company division — providing clients with pre-licensed entities for immediate deployment.
Today, Crypto License Europe serves clients across 35+ European jurisdictions from three offices. We are one of the most specialised MiCA/CASP licensing consultancies in Europe, with 14 experts covering all major EU regulators and a 96% application approval rate.
End-to-end European crypto licensing — from initial strategy to post-authorization compliance. We cover every major service type under MiCA and beyond.
Every client is assigned a country specialist with direct experience navigating the specific regulator, legal system, and business culture of their target jurisdiction.
These four principles shape every client engagement — from the first consultation to post-authorization regulatory support.
We never seek workarounds or grey-area shortcuts. Our role is to guide clients to operate fully within the law — building sustainable, compliant crypto businesses that can scale across the EU without regulatory risk.
Our entire practice is focused on Europe. We do not offer generic global licensing advice — we have deep, jurisdiction-specific knowledge of 35+ European regulators, local legal requirements, and regulator relationship management.
Every proposal includes a complete cost breakdown: state fees, professional fees, minimum capital requirements, and ongoing compliance costs. There are no hidden charges, and we commit only to timelines we can deliver.
We view licensing as the beginning of a relationship, not a one-time transaction. Many of our clients return for passporting, additional jurisdictions, compliance updates, and DORA implementation — often years after the initial license.
Three offices across Europe's key crypto licensing jurisdictions — providing local presence and direct regulator access where it matters most.
